Gymnasium and fitness centre

Developed to support the realisation of the college’s Master Plan, the concepts for St Margaret’s Berwick Grammar’s new gymnasium set out a vision for the creation of a sporting hub.

With an underground basement carpark, three full-size basketball courts, sporting fields, a fitness studio, gym, classrooms, changerooms and a host of other amenities, the new gymnasium will help to improve the wellbeing of students, staff and community.

Carefully situated to avoid disturbing the campus’s mature native gum trees, the trees work to frame the concourse and landscaped area, ensuring the new building sits comfortably within the campus’s landscape.

While the exterior’s detailed brickwork references the college’s heritage buildings, in a contemporary form, creating texture and visual interest. Inside, natural materials and wood bring warmth to the different spaces, to create a calm, nurturing environment that promotes wellbeing.
