The Brief
As an independent prep to year 12 school, Kardinia International College engaged B2 to create a Master Plan for the modernisation and upgrading of the Junior School facilities – many of which are old, unfit for purpose and under-utilised.
The Solution
Taking into account heritage overlays and the surrounding views, we worked closely and collaboratively with the school community and stakeholders to develop a progressive plan for modernising and upgrading facilities, including new:
- Learning Centre’s for Prep to year 2 and Year 3 to 6, featuring interconnected classrooms with contemporary learning, support and breakout spaces.
- Gymnasium.
- Administration and office.
- Landscaped outdoor space and central courtyard.
With a staged construction plan that will allow the school to continue operating, the Master Plan will help the school sell it’s vision and secure support and funding for the project to proceed, which will include;
- Construction of three new single storey and two new double storey buildings.
- Demolition of existing buildings.
- Interconnection of buildings.
- Services upgrades.
